Saturday March 19, 2016 – East India Company Restaurant

On March 19, 2016 SNOW hosted a special evening to celebrate International Women’s Day, and recognize the efforts, struggles and successes of women in our local community.

We had a thought-provoking panel of discussants on the subject of Challenges and Opportunities Facing Diverse Women: Then and Now. Panelists reflected on their past experiences as some of the first Indo-Canadian women settling in Ottawa, as well as the challenges of women today in our community.

After a sumptuous buffet dinner, we held a silent auction to raise funds for Interval House of Ottawa, a shelter for women and children seeking support and protection from abusive or violent relationships. All together, we were able to raise $5,100 for Interval House from this evening!
