2023 Year-End Report

A Note from SNOW Co-Chairs

The year 2023 included both swift moments and measured paces. On November 4th, as we convened at The Infinity Centre for our Annual Event, it was heartening to have 160 attendees join us in welcoming our distinguished guest speaker, Her Excellency, The Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada. The Steering Committee was delighted to also welcome back, Dr.Jean Sealy, Dr. Danika Garby, Dr. Rosa De Vermette, and Dr. Priya Gabba, esteemed speakers from past events.

Her Excellency, the Right Honourable Mary Simon, addressed the vital topic of mental health and the universal need for a safe haven to seek assistance. Given the challenges posed by the COVID pandemic, its continuing concerns, and the ensuing increase of isolation, S.N.O.W. dedicated the 2022 and 2023 themes to Mental Health. This topic bolstered the exploration and discussion of various strategies individuals could consider using to proactively foster personal well-being. Many of our speakers shared insightful ideas to kick start the journey of self-care.

Moving forward, S.N.O.W. is currently embarking on the following local fundraising initiatives:

  1. Shelter for women
  2. Christmas gifts and winter essentials for school children (i.e. hats/mittens)
  3. Mental health programs tailored to the Inuit community

Your support of these endeavors will undoubtedly make a meaningful impact on the beneficiaries. Let us continue to work together to promote well-being and contribute to the betterment of our community.

Best Regards,
